ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari emphasised the need for efficient water resource management in Sindh. He also highlighted the importance of upgrading the irrigation network to boost agricultural productivity and sustainability.
He was holding a meeting with Sindh Minister for Irrigation, Jam Khan Shoro at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Saturday. Sindh Minister for Irrigation, Jam Khan Shoro briefed the president on ongoing irrigation projects and developments within the sector across Sindh. Zardari emphasised the need for an efficient use of water resources to meet the province’s growing water demands. He also underlined the importance of enhancing the irrigation network in Sindh to ensure better agricultural productivity and sustainability. The president also stressed the necessity of prudent and strategic management of water reservoirs to support agriculture and other sectors dependent on water in the province. He directed the authorities to take timely and effective measures to promote the development of Sindh’s irrigation and agricultural sectors.
