Grants for sports bodies linked to their performance

LAHORE : Director General Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry has said that Sports Board Punjab will issue grants to sports associations on the basis of their performance. He said this while presiding over an important meeting at the National Hockey Stadium.

The meeting was convened to discuss rules and regulations of Sports Associations. Several important decisions were made in the meeting regarding the Sports Associations.

The meeting was attended by Director Admin Dr. M Kaleem, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum, Deputy Director Chand Parveen, Assistant Director Kamal ud Din, M Wasim and other officials.

Addressing the meeting, Khizar Afzaal said that new rules should be introduced for granting financial grants to Sports Associations. "Sufficient amount of grant will be given to more active sports associations of the province".

Khizar Afzaal said that the sport associations will only be accepted if there is an observer from Sports Board Punjab in the election of that particular sports association.

He said that the scrutiny committee is being formed to go through the rules of Sports Associations. "The approval of rules and regulations of Sports Associations will be taken from the Sports Board Punjab General Body Meeting. The Sports Association will have to play a vibrant role in the development of sports in the Punjab province."
