Entire nation is behind Pak army: governor

LAHORE : Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that India cannot look at Pakistan with a malicious eye. All political parties are united for the sake of the country. The entire nation stands by the Pakistan Army.

He expressed these views while addressing the convocation of Lahore College for Women University on Saturday. Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that even the father of India cannot look at Pakistan with a malicious eye. He said that there is no PPP, no PTI, no PML-N, no Jamaat-e-Islami, no Maulana Fazlur Rehman group, no religious sect, all sects, all parties are united for the country. He said that the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its Pakistan Army.

He said that politically, our role model is Ms Fatima Jinnah. The Governor of Punjab said that his leader was Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He added that along with education, the aspect of training is also important. The Governor of Punjab said that teachers should also pay special attention to the training and character building of students. On this occasion, the governor also distributed certificates among the students.

Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) awarded a record 94 PhD degrees to scholars in an academic year, marking a major achievement of the varsity in the field of research. Chancellor/Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan was the chief guest on this occasion. A total of 5,010 degrees are being conferred in various subjects in the convocation and its second session will be held on Sunday (today).

As many as 783 degrees will be awarded in MS/MPhil while 2,487 degrees will be awarded in undergraduate programmes (BS, BBA, BCom, BE, BArch, BSCS, BFA and PharmD). A total of 1,646 degrees will be conferred to the female students of affiliated colleges of Lahore College for Women University, including Government Graduate College for Women Samanabad, Government Islamia Graduate College for Women Cooper Road and Government Graduate College for Women Gulberg. A total of 748 female students will be awarded medals and roll of honours.

Earlier, Governor of Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan attended a ceremony held at a local hotel in Lahore on the occasion of the Kingdom Day of the Netherlands as a special guest. The ceremony was attended by Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, Ambassador of the Netherlands Mrs. Henny de Vries, Honorary Consul General Asma, heads of educational institutions and people from various fields. On this occasion, Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, while addressing the ceremony, said that the memories of the visit of the King and Queen of the Netherlands to Pakistan in the past are still fresh.

He said that he wants to see the diplomatic and trade relations between the Netherlands and Pakistan further strengthen. The Governor Punjab said that hockey is the national game of Pakistan, adding that Pakistan and the Netherlands have a glorious history in the field of hockey. He said that the Netherlands has a big name in the game of hockey, but unfortunately, Pakistan is not paying special attention to the field of hockey.

The Governor Punjab said that special attention needs to be given to sports including the national game in educational institutions. He added that his top priority is to promote the game of hockey in universities and colleges and organize sports tournaments.

The governor said that the government is not paying attention to the national game of hockey as it is paying attention to other sports. He underlined the need to promote the hockey academies for the revival of national game. The Governor of Punjab said that there is no dearth of talent in Pakistan. He said that every Pakistani wants the Pakistani flag to fly high in the field of sports.

On this occasion, the Dutch Ambassador thanked the Governor of Punjab for gracing the occasion. The national anthems of both countries were also played at the ceremony.

In addition, the governor expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Professor Sajid Mir, the Ameer of Jamiat Ahle Hadith.
