Cantankerous India
This letter refers to the news report ‘Under fire over held Kashmir attack, India seeks to scapegoat Pakistan’ (April 24, 2025). The knee-jerk reaction of the Indian government to the Pahalgam attack is incomprehensible. Unilaterally suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and directly accusing Pakistan without presenting any proof shows the immaturity of the Indian government. Although Pakistan has long maintained that India has played a role in spreading terror within its borders, particularly in Balochistan, and presented hard evidence to back up its assertions, it has never taken any decision in haste and has always tried to explore international avenues and arbitration to solve its issues with India.
This shows that Pakistan wants to live in peace with its neighbour and wants to resolve all issues amicably, including the Kashmir issue. International institutions, including the UN, should intervene quickly to lower the temperature between the two nuclear powers.
