US envoy opens cancer treatment therapies at PKLI&RC

LAHORE: The US Consul General in Lahore Ms Kristin Hawkins inaugurated three advanced cancer treatment therapies at Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre (PKLI&RC) on Tuesday.

These therapies signify the launch of a long-term collaboration between Boston Scientific and PKLI, focused on expanding access to advanced cancer care across Punjab. PKLI&RC Dean Prof Faisal Saud Dar, Director Strategic Planning & Marketing and Chairman Gastroenterology Dr Usman Aujla and General Manager Tariq Zaman welcomed the US Consul General and engaged in discussions on fostering long-term institutional linkages. Ms Hawkins appreciated the collaboration between PKLI and Boston Scientific. “It’s inspiring to witness the meaningful impact being made in patient care. This is more than just a partnership. It’s a powerful step forward in strengthening Pak-US relations,” she noted. Dr Aujla highlighted PKLI’s achievements in kidney and liver transplantation and its ongoing commitment to meeting Pakistan’s healthcare needs. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the faculty, the PKLI management team - especially Prof Faisal Saud Dar, Chairman Board of Governors Prof Saeed Akhter and the Punjab govt for their unwavering support. He shared that PKLI is ranked among the top 10 hospitals globally for liver and kidney transplantation and was recently honoured with the prestigious Healthcare Asia Award 2025 for excellence in

specialised medical care. Prof Faisal Saud Dar emphasised the role of academic and clinical partnerships in advancing healthcare delivery. Ms Hawkins also visited the In-Patient Department (IPD), where she interacted with transplant patients and staff.
