PU to start classes for competitive exams’ aspirants
LAHORE:Punjab University's Institute of Languages and Linguistics has announced starting preparatory classes for CSS, PMS and other competitive exams’ aspirants.
As per the details, the admission process is in progress and the classes will begin in the first week of May. In the first phase, the subjects of languages like English (essay & grammar and composition), Punjabi, Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Sindhi, Pashto and Balochi will be offered.
The other compulsory and optional subjects will be covered in the next phase. The programme will continue for three months and the students will be provided with the best opportunities to prepare for their exams under the guidance of experienced professors.
Admissions for 1st year at LCWU starts
The admissions for the intermediate classes (first year) at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) will begin from Tuesday (today). As per the details, the admission process is online and being offered on the basis of the results of the ninth class. The candidates who do not pass the 10th class examination will be dropped out.
Vice Chancellor LCWU Prof Dr Uzma Qureshi said that regular admissions are being offered in seven disciplines, including pre Medical, pre Engineering, ICS, Home Economics, General Science, Arts and I-Com. Five subjects have been kept for self-support evening classes, including Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, ICS, Arts and Commerce. Special quota has been allocated for applicants belonging to the minorities, sports, foreign and other provinces. The admissions will continue till May 9. The first merit list will be displayed on May 19.
During this period, tests and interviews will be completed with the candidates for admission on the basis of English Literature, Fine Arts, Hafiz Quran, physically challenged and Sports from May 12 to May 15.
O-Level students will also submit their admission forms by May 9, however, their admission process will be completed after the O-Level results are declared and the equivalency certificate is submitted.
MoU signed on promotion of research
The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) has signed an MoU with Grameen Jano Unnayan Sangstha (GJUS) Bangladesh to promote education and research linkages for enhancing practical experience. UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Younus and Executive Director GJUS Zakir Hussain Mohsin signed the MoU in the ceremony held at UVAS City Campus.
Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, and other faculty members and GJUS officials were present on the occasion. Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani said that this agreement would be beneficial for both organizations especially to learn about hands-on practical training and professional field experiences for enhancing capacity building. Under the MoU, both parties will work together to develop the buffalo and Sahiwal breed development project and local semen of these species will be exported to improve the genetic potential of our local species. They will exchange undergraduate and postgraduate students for short-term internships, virtual exchange programme and research projects.
PU awards PhD degrees to 10 scholars
Punjab University (PU) has awarded PhD degrees to 10 of its scholars. According to details, Sana Ashiq has been awarded PhD degree in the subject of Molecular Biology & Forensic Sciences, Tabassum Yousaf in Biological Sciences, Naseer Kawish in Zoology, Yin Bingquan in History, Abid Ali Butt in Communication Studies, Nida Qamar in Commerce, Yawar Hayat Shah in Political Science, Roohi Ijaz in Zoology, Arshia Nazir in Biological Sciences (Cell and Molecular Biology), and Ayesha Shaukat in Biochemistry.
