JI chief calls for joint parliamentary session, APC over India’s designs

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Friday called upon the government to summon a joint session of parliament and also convene an All-Parties Conference (APC) in view of India’s “false flag operation” in Pahalgam and unilateral actions against Pakistan afterwards.

Addressing a news conference here, Naeemur Rehman praised Pakistan government’s response to India’s actions but at the same time, he said it should take necessary measures to unite the nation against the “nexus of America, India and Israel”.

The JI leader said the party would take the initiative if the government fails to hold APC inviting all the government and opposition parties. He reiterated that JI and traders’ organisations have given a call for a countrywide shutter down strike on April 26 (today).

Naeemur Rehman warned the Pakistan government that it should not soften its stance on the decisions taken at the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting as, he alleged, happened in the past.

He was of the view that India would not have picked up courage to launch false flag operation had the then Pakistan government not released Indian pilot Abhinandan. He also demanded an apology from former prime minister Nawaz Sharif over his comments regarding 2008 Mumbai attacks.

The JI Ameer said Pahalgam attack was not India’s first false flag operation. “An attack on Indian parliament in 2001, attack on Taj Mahal hotel in 2008 and Pulwama attack are among various false flag operations carried out by India,” he said.

Noting that India was benefitting more from bilateral trade, the JI top leader demanded that Pakistan should not restore trade links with the neighbouring country till the resolution of Kashmir issue according to UN resolutions.

To a question, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman demanded the release of all the political prisoners to create an atmosphere of unity in the country in the present circumstances.

Naeemur Rehman praised the federal government for its decision over the controversial canals project, and said the government also needed to take necessary measures for resolving the problems of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
