LAHORE:A major recruitment scandal came to light during the ongoing process of hiring in the Punjab Police, as the Special Protection Unit (SPU) arrested 17 individuals—including a former police officer and a female candidate—for attempting to cheat using digital devices.

A case was registered against the accused at Kahna police station, officials confirmed. Among those arrested was a former police official from Chiniot, Ali, who played a central role in the scam. Investigations revealed that Ali had been selling digital cheating devices to candidates for prices ranging from Rs50,000 to Rs500,000, exploiting desperate job seekers with false promises of guaranteed selection in the police force.
