Anti-polio campaign continues amid tight security

BANNU: The anti-polio campaign continued across the Bannu district for the second day — Tuesday — under strict security arrangements.

Regional Police Officer Imran Shahid and District Police Officer Saleem Abbas Kalachi visited the field as well. Under the directions of RPO and DPO, extraordinary security measures were put in place in the district during the anti-polio campaign.

The campaign continued within a complete security cordon, where police officials and personnel were performing duties. The RPO and DPO reviewed the ongoing security arrangements in various areas. They conducted direct inspections of basic health units, vaccination teams’ security, and police deployments, issuing instructions to ensure a timely response to any potential threat.

During this time, SDPOs of the respective circles also visited different BHUs periodically, met with on-duty police personnel, and assessed their performance.Instructions were given to the police officials. The use of helmets and jackets was made mandatory, mobile phone use was prohibited, and a close watch was kept on suspicious individuals. The RPO told the media that Bannu police were determined to provide every possible protection to the anti-polio campaign.
