Flood preparedness alert to hospitals issued
PESHAWAR: The Directorate General Health Services Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has directed all District Health Officers and DHQ hospital administrators to remain on high alert and ensure emergency preparedness in response to a flash flood warning issued for the tributaries of River Kabul from April 18 to 20.
The alert follows a notification by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), which, based on the Flood Forecasting Division’s analysis, warned that a strong westerly wave is expected to strike the upper regions of the province, potentially causing widespread rainfall and flash floods.
Health officials have been instructed to maintain staff presence for uninterrupted services, ensure coordination of medical resources across facilities, and implement emergency response protocols to deal with any potential emergencies resulting from the weather system.
