PPP to part ways with federal govt if canals controversy lingers, warns Nasir
Sindh Planning & Development and Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has warned that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will part ways with the incumbent federal government if the controversy over the proposed irrigation canals on the Indus River lingers on any further.
He made this warning on Thursday while talking to media persons after inaugurating the four-day Interior Furniture Exhibition at the Karachi Expo Centre. Shah said that the issue of the proposed new canals on the Indus River was a ‘red line’ for the PPP. He, however, expressed optimism that an amicable solution would be found to resolve the canals' controversy. He said two provinces in Pakistan — Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa — were affected by terrorism, where anti-peace activities were being carried out at the behest of the anti-Pakistan forces.
