Chairman WAPDA Amateur Golf kicks off

LAHORE: The 6th Chairman WAPDA Amateur Golf Tournament began in grand style Thursday at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Club under the auspices of the WAPDA Sports Board.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Chairman WAPDA, Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd), who ceremoniously teed off, marking the official commencement of the prestigious four-day event.

During his speech, Chairman WAPDA Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd) emphasized the organization's unwavering commitment to promoting sports across Pakistan. He proudly shared that WAPDA Sports Board oversees 65 teams, comprising 36 men’s and 29 women’s squads, and highlighted WAPDA’s dominance as national champions in 33 different games.

"We believe that nations and sports rise and fall together," he stated, adding that this achievement reflects WAPDA’s dedication to nurturing athletic talent and building the character of athletes, ultimately contributing to national pride. The 6th Chairman WAPDA Amateur Golf Tournament brings together talented golfers from across the country.
