ECP announces Senate by-poll schedule on Taj Haider’s seat
Public notice for the election to the vacant seat will be issued on April 17
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Wednesday announced the election schedule for the Senate seat, which fell vacant due to the recent passing away of PPP Senator Taj Haider.
According to a notification issued by the ECP, the Senate election will be held in the Sindh Assembly building on May 6.
According to the notification, a public notice for the election to the vacant seat will be issued on April 17. Candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers from April 18 to April 19. April 22 is the last date for carrying out scrutiny of nomination papers, filed by the candidates, whereas the last date for submission of appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers is April 24. The revised list of candidates will be released on April 27. Similarly, candidate (s) will be able to withdraw their candidature on April 28.
According to another notification, the Election Commissioner Sindh Ijaz Anwar Chohan will be the returning officer for the Senate election.
