Woman among two killed by heavy vehicles
Two people, including a woman, lost their lives and another was injured in two traffic accidents in Karachi on Tuesday.
A pedestrian woman was killed after a speedy truck hit her in the Shershah Gulbai area within the limits of the Site B Section police station.
Police said the accident took place when a speeding truck ran over a 58-year-old Ghulam Sakina, wife of Ghulam, while she was crossing the road. She died on the spot. Her body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi.
Police said the deceased was a resident of the Lyari area and the accident took place when she was returning to home after visiting a hospital. Police impounded the truck, but the driver managed to flee the scene. A case has been registered.
Separately, a copper-loaded Mazda truck collided with a stationary trailer near Ghani Chowrangi, killing 25-year-old cleaner Murtaza on the spot, while 23-year-old Riaz, son of Maqsood, was wounded.
