Thalassemia-hit kids visit PSCA

LAHORE:A group of thalassemia-affected children, under the supervision of Sundas Foundation, paid a study visit to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA).

During the visit, the children were briefed on various departments of the authority, particularly those related to modern technology-based security systems and public welfare services. The children visited the Operations and Control Room of the Safe City project and were given an overview of the advanced surveillance system. They were informed about how the network of cameras installed across Punjab helps prevent crime and maintain law and order. The children also toured the Virtual Blood Bank and the Virtual Women Police Station. During the briefing, it was shared that the Virtual Blood Bank plays a vital role in providing blood on a daily basis to the citizens in emergency, especially children suffering from thalassemia. In addition, the children were given a comprehensive briefing on the Virtual Centre for Child Safety and the workings of Emergency Helpline 15, particularly regarding the swift response mechanisms in place for the protection of women and children.

It was highlighted that the “Mera Pyara Centre” is working around the clock for child protection and emergency assistance. At the conclusion of the visit, the Sundas Foundation team appreciated the modern public service initiatives and facilities being offered by Punjab Safe Cities Authority. They remarked that the Virtual Blood Bank is a beacon of hope for children suffering from thalassemia. The children also participated in a special segment of the Safe City Web TV program, where they expressed their thoughts and shared their joy on visiting the authority.
