Two kids killed as explosive goes off in Kohat
KOHAT: Two children were killed and another was injured when a hand grenade exploded in the vicinity of Sheikhan, a suburban area of Kohat, on Thursday.
Eyewitnesses said the explosive device went off when the children started playing with it.Regional Police Officer Abbas Majid Marwat said that the blast occurred when the children came in contact with the explosive device. “Emergency teams, including the police and Bomb Disposal Unit, rushed to the scene shortly after the explosion, and the bodies were transferred to a local hospital,” he added.
Officials said an investigation into the incident was in progress. “Initial reports suggest that the children were playing with the grenade, but the source of the bomb is yet to be determined,” said an official. “We are working to trace how the device ended up in the hands of the children,” he added.
