PEC shows concern over appointment of non-engineers
LAHORE:The participants of a meeting convened by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) have expressed deep concern over the appointment of non-engineers to engineering posts in various government institutions.
The first meeting of the Task Force established by the PEC to resolve issues of Working Group on Public Sector Institutions was held at the PEC Regional here Tuesday which was co-chaired by Engr Dr Khawaja Riffat Hassan and Engr Mujahid Pervez Chattha and attended by representatives of DISCOs, GENCOs, NTDC, various engineer’s forums and associations. It was acknowledged by the participants that this is a serious issue that needs to be highlighted at the highest level. It was also emphasised that such measures not only affect the performance of the institutions but are also a clear violation of the Pakistan Engineering Council Act. To maintain the dignity and standard of the profession, it is necessary to effectively stop such appointments and protect the rights of engineers, the participants demanded the government.
