DIR: The authorities have taken several steps to strengthen security in the Upper Dir district. It was learnt that Deputy Commissioner Naveed Akbar chaired a meeting of the District Coordination Committee, which was attended by Brigadier Sanaullah, sector commander of the Dir Scouts, officials of law-enforcement agencies and others.
The deputy commissioner directed the committee to collect details of Afghan Citizen Card holders and Non-Customs Paid vehicles to prevent their unauthorized use.The meeting discussed efforts to counter acts of terrorism in the district.
The official also discussed steps to uphold the rule of law by implementing the decisions of the apex committee. The officials were directed to take steps to control the smuggling of narcotics and other illegal activities.
The meeting directed the relevant officials to check electricity theft and unauthorized petrol pumps functioning in the district.It was told that the steps were meant to improve security in the district and ensure the safety of citizens.
The meeting was held with the view to address security concerns.The District Coordination Committee also discussed the implementation of the National Action Plan and ensuring the effective use of resources to tackle security challenges.
