Motorway woes

The M-9 Motorway, one of the key routs in Pakistan connecting Karachi to Hyderabad, faces several problems. One of the primary complaints is the lack of adequate maintenance. There are reports of deteriorating road conditions, including potholes, damaged surfaces, and worn-out signs, which pose safety risks to commuters. Some parts of the M9 also face challenges related to infrastructure. For example, there are issues with proper lighting and lack of rest stops or emergency service stations, all of which can make travel more difficult and unsafe, especially at night.

Despite these challenges, more and more commutters are piling onto the M9 and the motorway now faces significant traffic issues, leading to congestion, accidents and delays. Poorly planned intersections, limited enforcement of traffic rules and a lack of proper barriers to segregate traffic from other hazards are among the major safety concerns. The highway and traffic authorities are requested to resolve these issues as early as possible.
