HANGU: Two Frontier Corps personnel were martyred and five others sustained injuries when their vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Tor Samat area of upper part of Orakzai tribal district on Saturday.
District Police officer (DPO) Nazir Khan and security sources said that a vehicle of FC 216 Wing was on a routine patrol when it was struck by an IED on Mamozai Road near Tor Samat, planted by militants.
As a result of the blast, Havaldar Altaf Khattak and Sepoy Khair Din embraced martyrdom, while Naik Aziz, Sepoy Hazir, Sepoy Raj Wali, Sepoy Jibrael, and Sepoy Shahid sustained serious injuries.
Following the incident, the martyrs and injured personnel were transferred to Jamlmaya FC Quarters Hospital.
Meanwhile, a large contingent of security forces and police arrived at the scene and launched a search operation in the area.
