Cop martyred in Hangu attack
Funeral prayer for martyred official was held with full state honours at Hangu Police Lines
HANGU: A cop embraced martyrdom when unidentified armed men on motorcyclists opened fire at him near the Shnawari area on Tuesday.
Police sources said Maqbool Akbar of the District Security Branch (DSB) was going to Bilyamina Police Station for duty from Hangu Bazaar when the attackers targeted him, resulting in his martyrdom. Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to nab the culprits. The funeral prayer for the martyred official was held with full state honours at the Hangu Police Lines. DIG, Kohat Range, Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat, DPO M Khalid Khan, DC, Hangu, Gohar Zaman, SP Investigation Arif Khan, SP Operations Asad Zubair Khan, and several political and social figures attended the funeral. Abbas Majeed Marwat, DPO M Khalid Khan, and Deputy Commissioner Gohar Zaman laid floral wreaths. A contingent of police presented a salute to the fallen cop. Expressing his condolences to the bereaved family, DIG Abbas Majeed Marwat praised Maqbool’s professional dedication and assured the family that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice. Maqbool was on his way to report for duty at the DSB office when he was targeted by motorcycle-riding assailants.
