IO ordered to submit charge sheet against Armaghan
An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday remanded Armaghan, the prime suspect in the Mustafa Amir abduction and murder case, in jail custody in three other cases pertaining to encounter with police and possession of illicit arms.
Investigating officer Muhammad Ali filed an application before the ATC-IV judge, requesting him to remand the suspect in judicial custody in the three cases.
He stated that Armaghan was already in jail as he was remanded in judicial custody in the Mustafa Amir case on March 22 after he was produced before a judicial magistrate to record his confessional statement under Section 164 of the CrPC. The IO said that the suspect be remanded in judicial custody in the three cases as well.
The judge ordered the superintendent of the Central Prison Karachi to keep Armaghan in judicial custody in these cases till further order and directed the IO to submit a charge sheet in the cases on or before April 3.
He noted that the IO had neither submitted his report under Section 173 of the criminal procedure code within the stipulated time nor sought its postponement. The Anti-Violent Crime Cell had lodged the three cases against Armaghan for allegedly engaging in an encounter with a police team that raided his residence to arrest him in connection Mustafa Amir's murder and possessing unlicensed arms.
Separately, the ATC-XVII judge remanded Armaghan in judicial custody in an attempt to murder case. The suspect was booked by the Bahadurabad police for allegedly shooting and injuring TV reporter Nadeem Ahmed outside his office on Tipu Sultan Road on Nov 19, 2024.
