ISLAMABAD: The Federal Police submitted its reply to the petition filed under Section 22A against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi and others for taking oppressive measures against the PTI during the latter’s November 26 protest.
The reply stated that the petition is false and fabricated and all the allegations levelled in the petition are frivolous. The purpose of the petition is to influence the cases under trial in various courts. The petitioner has tried to damage the reputation of constitutional officials, the prime minister, the interior minister and others, it said.
The reply further said that such inappropriate allegations fall under the category of malicious intent and defamation. The petitioner has filed the petition for political purposes and to stir up public sentiments and to influence the under-trial cases. It further said that the petitioner has tried to give a political colour to the judicial forum, which is condemnable. The miscreants armed with weapons tried to destroy law and order and those cases are under trial in various courts.
The police reply said the petitioner is relying on false, frivolous news and speculations on social media, adding that the petitioner does not have any concrete evidence to prove the allegations.
The Federal Police has requested that the court dismiss the application for registration of the case, taking into account all the matters. The lawyer of the petitioner, Gul Khan, will present arguments on the application today.
