LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Health and Emergency Services Punjab Khawaja Salman Rafique visited the Rescue headquarters. Deputy Director Mohsin Durrani and Head of Information Deeba Shahnaz gave a briefing on various projects.
Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique reviewed the performance of the fire service, ambulance and motorbike rescue service. He lauded the motorbike rescue service. So far, 90 patients have been transferred to different hospitals for treatment through the air ambulance service. The 24-hour rescue services are being provided to the public during the month of Ramadan. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is collecting the prayers of patients who have been transferred from far away for treatment through the air ambulance service. Emergency services are being provided on the motorway from Attock to Rahim Yar Khan. More than 300 new ambulances will be provided to the Punjab Emergency Services Department this year. The minister said that Punjab is the first province in Pakistan to start the air ambulance service. Trauma and cardiac patients are shifted to Lahore from Mianwali and Bahawalnagar on a daily basis through the air ambulance service.
Hospitals’ revamping reviewed
A meeting was held in the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. Secretary Health Punjab Azmat Mahmood attended the meeting. A detailed review of the upgradation project and recruitment was held during the meeting.
Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the ongoing revamping projects in government hospitals are being completed at lightning speed. Efforts are being made to ensure that no patient faces any difficulty in government hospitals.
The minister directed the DC District Murree and other officers to increase the work in two shifts to complete the upgradation project on time and complete the recruitment process on time.
UHS, Iran varsity join hands
The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore and Shiraz University, Iran have agreed to collaborate in the fields of medical writing and research.
The agreement was reached during an online meeting between the two institutions, where various academic and research matters were discussed. The meeting was attended by Prof Behrooz Astaneh, Head of the Medical Journalism Department at Shiraz University; Dr S Sharifzadeh, Dean of the School of Paramedical Sciences; and Associate Prof Ali Farhadi. Representing UHS were VC Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore, Pro-VC Prof Nadia Naseem, Director of Research Prof Sidra Saleem, Director of Int’l Linkages Dr. Midhat, and Director of Postgraduate Studies Prof Asif Naveed.
