LAHORE: Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha has said Pakistan needed to improve their powerplay bowling.
Pakistan suffered their second consecutive loss in the T20I series against New Zealand on Tuesday, as the hosts secured a five-wicket victory in a rain-shortened match at the University Oval.
Speaking after the game, Agha acknowledged the need for improvement. “I think we’ve batted a bit better in this game compared to Christchurch, but we still need to finish better. Fielding was outstanding, and bowling in patches was good, but we need to be more consistent,” he said.
Agha also highlighted the challenges posed by New Zealand’s conditions. “The bounce here is different from what we play at home. Once we adjust to that, I believe we’ll be a better team,” he added.
The captain admitted that Pakistan’s poor Powerplay performance, where they conceded 66 runs in five overs, was a turning point. “After the Powerplay, we bowled well in patches. Spinners and Haris bowled really well, but we need to improve our Powerplay bowling and be more consistent overall,” he remarked. With three matches remaining, Pakistan faces an uphill battle to turn the series around. The third T20I is scheduled for Friday in Auckland.
