Mepco operations against power thieves continue in South Punjab
MULTAN: Under the direction of Multan Electric Power Company Chief Executive Officer Engineer Gul Muhammad Zahid, operations against electricity thieves and defaulters are going on in the South Punjab region during the month of Ramazan.
Mepco Director Information Jamshed Khan told The News here on Friday that at Jalalpur Pirwala, Mianchannu, Dunyapur, Fort Abbas, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Rahimabad, Sadiqabad and Pakpattan, the teams removed 31 transformers of defaulters. The teams also recovered Rs 5 million from the defaulters, he added.
Under the supervision of Mepco Multan circle Superintending Engineer Operation Syed Muhammad Mubashar Rizvi and Wing Commander Rangers, Shujabad Division Xen Tariq Mehmood Dar and Jalalpur Subdivision SDO Khalid Mahmood with their team conducted operations against electricity thieves and defaulters in different areas. The teams removed three transformers and 11 meters from the areas of Kunhan, Ilyas Wala, Matwala, Begwala, Basti Berar, Basti Mojewala and Sabra for non-payment of dues amounting to Rs 4,157,000 and electricity theft while the teams also recovered dues worth of Rs 200,000 from the defaulters on the spot.
The team under the leadership of Dunyapur Division Tariq Azim and Dunyapur Subdivision-II SDO conducted operations against defaulters in different areas. Four transformers, four III-phase meters and two single phase meters were removed by disconnecting the tube-well connections of four defaulting farmers for non-payment of dues of Rs 1,380,000 in City Dunyapur, Chak 38M and Fatehpur. The recovery of dues of Rs 1,190,000 was also done from the defaulters.
Mepco Sahiwal circle Superintending Engineer Operation Nasir Mahmood Fani and under the supervision of Wing Commander Rangers, the team under the leadership of Pakpattan division XEN and SDO Bonga Hayat subdivision conducted operations against electricity thieves and defaulters in different areas. In Chak 62/D, Chak 63/D, Chak 54/SP and Chak 7/SP areas, five transformers and four single phase connections of defaulters were disconnected for non-payment of dues of Rs 4,510,000.
During the operation, four people were caught stealing electricity in different ways. The team under the supervision of Superintending Engineer Operation Mepco Bahawalnagar Circle Khalid Hussain Sial and Wing Commander Rangers, XEN Haroonabad Division Nasir Mahmood and Fort Abbas SDO Subdivision Shahbaz Ahmad led the operation against the defaulters in different areas.Mepco Khanewal Circle Superintending Engineer Operation Mushtaq Ahmad along with his team conducted operations against electricity thieves and defaulters in different areas.
