Specialised institutions act submitted for cabinet approval
LAHORE:The Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education has achieved another milestone in improving service delivery in government teaching hospitals. In order to run government hospitals in a better administrative manner, the Punjab Specialised Institutions Act 2025 has been submitted to the provincial cabinet for approval. After the implementation of this law, any teaching institution run under the auspices of the Specialised Health Department will have the authority to apply this law.
Moreover, the Punjab Civil Servants Act 1974 will not be applicable to employees working in institutions run under this law. The board of the institution will decide on the recruitment and tenure of all employees.
Private colleges BDS admission list issued
The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has released the first selection list for admissions to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme in 18 private dental colleges across Punjab. The list has been issued for a total of 1,075 seats. According to the list, the highest merit was recorded at Sharif Dental College, Lahore, closing at 87.6591pc, while the lowest merit was observed at Shahida Islam Dental College, Lodhran, at 71.2894 pc. Other institutions include Watim Dental College, Rawalpindi (81.9364 pc), FMH College of Dentistry, Lahore (79.6799 pc), Lahore Medical and Dental College, Lahore (78.8106 pc), Islam Dental College, Sialkot (78.3636 pc), Margalla Institute of Health Sciences, Rawalpindi (78.3273 pc), Rahbar College of Dentistry, Lahore (75.8773 pc), Akhtar Saeed Medical & Dental College, Lahore (74.9636 pc), Avicenna Dental College, Lahore (73.4409 pc), University College of Medicine & Dentistry, Lahore (73.4212 pc), Rashid Latif Dental College, Lahore (73.2712 pc), Azra Naheed Dental College, Lahore (72.8167 pc), University Medical & Dental College, Faisalabad (72.5000 pc), Niazi Dental College, Sargodha (72.3182 pc), Bakhtawar Amin Dental College, Multan (72.0182 pc), Faryal Dental College, Sheikhupura (71.8773 pc), and Multan Medical & Dental College, Multan (71.8500 pc).
According to a UHS spokesperson, the selection list has been published on the university’s official website. Selected candidates have been instructed to deposit their fee and confirm their admission by submitting a written joining at their respective colleges by March 17.
