ISLAMABAD: The acting chief justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Sarfraz Dogar, took notice of a letter from Justice Babar Sattar’s private secretary on complaints of the alleged involvement of clerks and other court staff transferred from other high courts in bribery and ordered an inquiry.

An inquiry committee comprising the registrar and additional registrar was formed on Friday and a report was sought within three days.

Islamabad High Court Registrar Yar Mohammad Walana placed the matter of the letter written by Justice Babar Sattar’s private secretary Mohammad Saeed before Acting Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar, who took notice of the matter and formed an inquiry committee comprising Registrar Yar Mohammad Walana and Additional Registrar Establishment Rai Mohammad Khan and sought a report within three days.

On the instructions of Justice Babar Sattar, his private secretary had written in the letter that the court staff transferred from other high courts were chasing the petitioners and lawyers and demanding money. If the reports of such demands prove to be true, strict action should be taken against the staff involved and an inquiry should be conducted against the staff who were collecting money from the petitioners to root out the evil, said the letter.
