PHC moved against non-representation in public safety commission
PESHAWAR: The district nazims have filed a writ petition in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for not giving them representation in the Public Safety and Police Complaint Commissions.
The writ petition was filed by District Nazim Bannu Irfan Durrani, District Nazim Shangla Niaz Ahmad and District Nazim Mansehra Sardar Said Ghulam along with Member of the National Assembly and leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Daniyal Aziz.
In the writ petition filed through Farhat Nawaz Lodhi, the petitioners have made the provincial minister for local government, chief secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and secretary home and tribal affairs as parties.
The petitioners argued that the provincial government made amendments to Article 37 and 38 of the Police Order 2002 violating the directives of the Supreme Court. They said the government had failed to give powers to the local government representatives.
