Management of toll plazas reviewed
LAHORE:Communication and Works (C&W) Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth Wednesday reviewed the management of toll plazas, public-private partnerships for highways, and contract-based management in a meeting.
Chairing the meeting, the minister instructed all Chief Engineers, Deputy Secretaries, and Executive Engineers to stay in field for monitoring highways. He stressed the use of quality material in ongoing projects and timely completion of projects. C&W secretary Sohail Ashraf, the Chief Engineer, and officers from the C&W department attended the meeting. The C&W secretary briefed the meeting on the toll plaza management and the public-private mode for highway construction. The minister was informed that there are 45 toll plazas across the province and 41 are functional, and 35 of these have cameras and auction process for 41 toll plazas has been completed. The participants also discussed the operations and design of toll plazas, the public-private partnership (PPP) mode for the construction of the Chiniot-Sargodha highways.
