LAHORE: The Punjab government on Tuesday appointed Amjad Pervaiz as advocate general of Punjab.
According to media reports, a notification has been issued regarding the appointment by the provincial government’s Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department which stated that Punjab Governor Saleem Haider appointed Amjad to the position in the public interest.
In recent years, Amjad has served as counsel for several politicians including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, his son Hamza Shehbaz, PMLN President Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and PTI leader Moonis Elahi.
Amjad also served as the defence counsel for Shehbaz and Hamza in the Ramzan Sugar Mill case. Prior to that, he was the lawyer for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the £190m corruption reference against PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi.
