Truck crushes minor girl to death in Korangi

A minor girl lost her life as the deadly menace of recklessly-driven heavy vehicles continued to plague Karachi on Tuesday.

This tragic accident occurred near Jalal Chowk in Mehran Town, Korangi Industrial Area, where a Mazda truck ran over a four-year-old girl. She died on the spot. According to police, the girl, Rukhsana, was playing outside her home when the truck driver, while reversing, ran her over. Soon afterwards, police arrived at the scene, arrested the driver, Zakir, and impounded the vehicle.

The body of the deceased was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. On Sunday, a 55-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after being hit by a trailer truck in Liaquatabad No 4. Supermarket SHO Rao Nazim said preliminary investigations suggested that the accident occurred due to reckless driving and possible speeding by the trailer driver near the Erum Bakery.
