NOWSHERA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Saturday expressed concerns over the worsening security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that the province had been suffering from terrorism for the past 40 to 45 years.
He criticized the federal government for failing to address the crisis and accused it of prioritizing political suppression over national security.
He was speaking at Darul Uloom Haqqania where he had gone to offer condolences to the family of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUIS) chief Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani,
Qaiser condemned the terrorist attack on the religious leader and the seminary and lamented that the deteriorating security situation was a direct consequence of flawed policies, as there has been no structured roadmap to counter terrorism effectively.
He highlighted that no sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had remained unaffected by the ongoing wave of violence, yet the government continued to ignore the gravity of the situation.
Emphasizing the need for a national agenda, Qaiser said that opposition parties had formed an alliance to address pressing national issues. He stressed that the rule of law and constitutional supremacy must be established as the first step toward stabilizing the country. He called for a comprehensive reassessment of Pakistan’s Afghan policy and urged state institutions to operate strictly within their constitutional framework.
The PTI leader reiterated that the only viable solution to Pakistan’s crises was holding fresh elections, as the incumbent government lacked public mandate and legitimacy.
