NLC facilitates Sino-Pak trade

Islamabad : As part of keeping the Khunjerab Pass open for year round trade activities, National Logistics Corporation (NLC) is ensuring cross-border trade at Khunjerab Pass under the harshest weather conditions. Recognising the challenges posed by heavy snowfall and freezing temperature, NLC has already taken proactive measures for uninterrupted trade operations by installing heating systems and other facilities at Sost Dry Port, says a press release.

Provision of these facilities are a testament to NLC’s dedication to providing an enabling environment for all stakeholders, including Customs officials, clearing agents, and traders. This initiative is in line with the government’s policy of keeping Khunjerab open trade regardless of seasonal adversities.

The enhanced infrastructure at Sost Dry Port is playing a pivotal role in boosting both bilateral and regional trade. By prioritising trade facilitation and operational continuity, NLC is strengthening Pakistan’s position in international trade corridors.

The year-round opening of the Khunjerab Pass has brought new life to the region’s economy. The uninterrupted trade flows throughout the year has not only boosted cross-border trade between Pakistan, China and other regional countries but also provided sustainable livelihood for locals who used to lose work during the winter season.
