KARACHI: Terrorists lobbed a cracker inside the Preedy police station late on Friday night, leaving three police personnel injured.

Soon after the incident, police cordoned off the crime scene and moved the injured cops to hospital where they were stated to be in a stable condition. The policemen suffered pellet injuries to different parts of their bodies.

Talking to The News, DIG Asad Raza, chief South Range, said a cracker or a hand grenade was thrown inside the Preedy police station by unknown persons.

As a result of the explosion, three police personnel -- Arshad, Aamir and Riaz – were slightly injured.

He said a vehicle of the crime scene unit was damaged, with a window left broken. He said the scene was sealed, the bomb disposal unit was called in. The nature of the explosion was being determined, he added.

Investigators said they had obtained CCTV footage of the incident, while the BDS staff had collected samples from the scene. After the report from the BDS comes in, it will become clear what type of bomb it was.

Moreover, the investigators are also checking footage from more cameras so that they can identify the attackers and ascertain how they escaped.
