Kundi questions PTI plan for nationwide protest move
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday questioned why the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was holding nationwide protests.“A certain person repeatedly seeks a national reconciliation ordinance (NRO), but he is not getting it. He was involved in the May 9 incidents, and the courts have sentenced him, not us,” Governor Kundi said while talking to the Geo News
He posed a question whether they (PTI) would now protest against the courts. He said that KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was now holding rallies with Maulana, but the question arose what slogans would the workers chant.
“Those who didn’t even call Maulana Fazlur Rahman as “Maulana” some time ago but they were now offering prayers behind him.The governor said that there were two PTIs, adding that one was an official PTI, and the other was the real PTI. The real PTI, he said, was bowing before Maulana, while the official PTI was hurling abuses against him.
“How will the PTI start civil disobedience in the province? Maulana Fazlur Rahman is a shrewd politician and he won’t be used by anyone,” Governor Kundi remarked.About tax on farmers, he said that if injustices were done to the growers of the province, then let the chief minister himself come and collect taxes from them.
He said that they would see how the CM collects the agricultural tax. “If the people’s livelihoods are at stake, we will stand with them,” he pledged. The governor said that 20,000 employees were being mistreated and they were being dismissed. “The system here is such that jobs are sold, and commissions are taken, he alleged.
About the funds and powers to the local government representatives, he said they were forming a panel of lawyers for them, and these lawyers would plead their fund-related cases for free. After Eid, he said that they would show them what civil disobedience and sit-ins really look like. They would see how we claim our rights.
