‘Rs30bn relief to be distributed among three million households’
LAHORE:Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Price Control Salma Butt said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was monitoring price control reports daily to curb inflation.
She while addressing a press conference at DGPR here on Tuesday said establishment of Price Control & Commodities Management Department aimed to regulate supply & demand standards.
She said, ‘During Ramazan, the Punjab government is working with industries to ensure further price reductions. Additionally, deserving individuals will receive direct relief of Rs10,000 through bank pay orders. A total of Rs30 billion in direct relief will be distributed to 3 million households across Punjab. This relief process will be facilitated through Punjab Socio-Economic Registry, PITB & Bank of Punjab.’
Over 18,000 points have been established across province. Model bazaars have been set up in 25 districts and remaining districts will have special relief markets, she said.
‘Prices of essential items will be significantly reduced ghee & oil by Rs10, chicken by Rs24 per kg & pulses available at wholesale rates. Moreover, sugar will be available at Rs130 per kg at 600 stalls across the province. Price of a 20-kg flour bag is Rs1,000 less than last year with additional relief of Rs50 to 100 at relief stalls, she said.
