Maryam announces community health services project in Punjab

Maryam expressed deep grief and sorrow over deaths of workers due to a molten iron spill in Aimanabad

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has taken an important step to improve the health sector in Punjab, announcing the introduction of “Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services” in the province.

She stated, “Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services will complete 19 tasks within the health sector, along with integrated tasks related to health issues. The services of 20,000 additional health inspectors will be obtained through outsourcing across Punjab.” She requested a comprehensive plan for the community health services and directed relevant authorities to take immediate steps to make it operational.

The chief minister said, “The Lady Health Worker Program will also be integrated with Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services. 39,000 lady health workers will be part of the community health services’ workforce, consisting of over 60,000 professionals.

“Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services will be responsible for polio and other vaccinations. Authentic patient records should be compiled through Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services.” She underscored “Maryam Nawaz Sharif will also complete the mapping of community health services.” Earlier, the chief minister was briefed by the relevant authorities, who stated that 47% of the population is currently covered by health services, while 53% remain uncovered. She was also informed that 93% of patients are satisfied with the government’s health service reforms.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz expressed deep grief and sorrow over the deaths of workers due to a molten iron spill in Aimanabad.

She offered sincere condolences and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families.

The chief minister directed the relevant authorities to provide the best medical treatment facilities to injured workers and requested a report on the tragedy from commissioner Gujranwala.
