TUJ gets new office-bearers
KHAR: Hasbanullah was elected as president as the Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ) annual elections for the merged districts for the 2025/2026 term were held.
Polling stations were set up at press clubs across the tribal districts, while a special polling station was established in Peshawar for journalists unable to vote at their respective press clubs.
According to the results, 166 votes were cast, out of which 21 were rejected. Hasbanullah, the correspondent for The News, secured a landslide victory for the position of president with 131 votes, while his opponent, Muhammad Ismail, received 14 votes.
For the general secretary post, Muhammad Jamil won with 129 votes, defeating Noor Muhammad Binori (16). Shakirullah Mohmand emerged victorious as senior vice president with 88 votes against his competitor Israr Bangash (29). Muhammad Jawad won the post of Press Secretary with 95 votes, while his opponent, Muhammad Saleem, garnered 45 votes.
