Gang involved in stealing transformers busted

MANSEHRA: The police claimed to have busted a gang involved in stealing power transformers in different parts of Hazara Division.

“We have arrested a four-member gang of notorious robbers who stole dozens of electricity transformers in different parts of the district and Hazara division,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Javed Khan told reporters.

Flanked by SHO Saddar Police Station, Israr Shah, he said that District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur had formed a team under his command following multiple cases of transformer theft, which left several villages and towns without electricity. “The arrested gangsters recently stole electricity transformers from Khawari, Chitta Batta, Bohraj and Potha, plunging these areas into darkness,” the DSP said.

The DSP added that a special police team conducted raids in different parts of the district and arrested Mohammad Siddique from Shergar in Oghi, Amir Saeed from Haripur and Muslim Mian from Kohistan and recovered the stolen transformer components, including valuable coils worth millions in the market.

“Our team is still active and continues to conduct raids to arrest other gang members who are still at large,” he added.Meanwhile, residents of Oghi and its suburbs demanded the Peshawar Electric Supply Company put an end to prolonged and unscheduled power outages in the city and surrounding areas.
