Solar energy only alternate to costly electricity: Shafay

LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said the only solution to get rid of expensive electricity is the promotion of solar energy. He said that efforts are being made to start manufacturing solar panels in Punjab soon. “I do not believe in MoU, I think beyond that and China's VIVO Mobile Company has started building a manufacturing plant in Industrial Estate Faisalabad. He said the garment city to be built in Quaid-e-Azam Business Park Sheikhupura will be on solar energy and work has been started to transfer industrial estates to solar energy.

Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said this while addressing the closing ceremony of the third Sundar Industrial Expo on Thursday. He said if ministers, politicians, parliamentarians, industrialists all move forward together then there will be no need to take loans from foreign financial institutions.

Chaudhry Shafay said that the positive results of the visit of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to China have started to emerge and now national and foreign investors are giving priority to Punjab for investment. More industries are being set up which will help a lot in creating more employment opportunities for the talented individuals.

He said bringing new investment and accelerating the process of industrialisation in Punjab is the mission of government and in this regard, every necessary step is being taken to fulfill this mission.

Shafay congratulated all the industrialists of Sundar Industrial Estate, especially those who set up stalls, on the grand success of this event. Such exhibitions prove to be helpful in promoting economic activities and increasing business ties.

He said undoubtedly, Sundar Industrial Estate has played an important role in the industrial and economic development of Punjab through providing employment and promoting industry. He further said that we have stopped the property business that has been going on in industrial estates for years, now only industrial units are being built on the plots acquired in industrial estates.
