PESHAWAR: Chief secretary Shahab Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed on Tuesday awarded cash prizes and certificates of appreciation to police officers and jawans of Peshawar, Mansehra, Karak, Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts for their performance in various operations against terrorists, target killers and others.
The Karak police had foiled the attack of terrorists on Police Chowki Bahadurkhel at midnight on February 6. The terrorists attacked the police post armed with light and heavy weapons including rocket launchers and hand grenades. In the attack, three policemen died while fighting bravely, while 6 officers were injured. In this encounter that lasted for three hours, the terrorists retreated.
