Water outflows increased to meet irrigation needs after closure of canal

LAHORE: Water outflows from reservoirs are being increased to meet post-canal closure irrigation requirements.

According to water report issued by Water and Power Development Authority on Tuesday, the position of river inflows and outflows at Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma along with the reservoirs levels and the barrages is as under: Rivers: Indus at Tarbela: Inflows 13900 cusecs and Outflows 46000 cusecs, Kabul at Nowshera: Inflows 11700 cusecs and Outflows 11700 cusecs, Khairabad Bridge: Inflows 17000 cusecs and Outflow 17000, Jhelum at Mangla: Inflows 4200 cusecs and Outflows 25000 cusecs, Chenab at Marala: Inflows 4200 cusecs and Outflows Nil cusecs.

Barrages: Jinnah: Inflows 55900 cusecs and Outflows 51900 cusecs, Chashma: Inflows: 53000 cusecs and Outflows 48000 cusecs, Taunsa: 49100 Inflows cusecs and Outflows 41600 cusecs, Guddu: Inflows 35700 cusecs and Outflows 32300 cusecs, Sukkur: Inflows 28100 cusecs and Outflows 5000 cusecs, Kotri: Inflows 5400 cusecs and Outflows Nil cusecs, Trimmu: Inflows 1500 Outflows Nil, Panjnad: Inflows 2500 cusecs and Outflows Nil.

Reservoirs (Level and Storage): Tarbela: Minimum operating level 1402 feet, present level 1452.36 feet, maximum conservation level 1550 feet, live storage 1.150 MAF. Mangla: Minimum operating level 1050 feet, present level 1129.80 feet, maximum conservation level 1242 feet, live storage 1.001 MAF.
