National Stadium ready to host CT matches
KARACHI: The National Stadium in Karachi is ready to host the ICC Champions Trophy matches as the work on new five-story building has completed while digital screens and LED lights have also been installed.
The ICC has declared the stadium as the theme for the mega event, a colorful inauguration ceremony of the National Stadium will be held on February 11. Project Director Bilal Chauhan informed the media while addressing the press briefing on Thursday. Regarding the renovation and construction, Project Director Bilal Chauhan said the renovation work with up-gradation has been completed.
The project director added that in the first phase rooms for ICC anti-corruption and anti-doping, physio and match officials have been prepared on the ground floor in the new building. He said that four modern lifts have been installed in the building, patrons’ enclosures and the gallery for important personalities. A total of 75 new washrooms have been built for the convenience of the spectators. Due to construction work, the seating capacity of the 32,000-seat stadium has been reduced to 28,000, however, another 1,200 people will be able to sit and enjoy the match in the pavilion. The PCB Chairman will invite the labourers working in the National Stadium to watch the cricket match, while a special lunch will also be arranged for them.
