Use of every kind of weapon allowed against criminals: IG
Sukkur: Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon on Wednesday said that those involved in robberies and kidnappings must not be forgiven under any circumstances. He ordered taking strict action against Kutcha area dacoits. He stressed that the use of every kind of weapon is allowed against criminals.
IG Memon chaired a high-level meeting to review the construction work and the overall security arrangements of the Kandhkot and Ghotki bridge, and gave further orders to the Ghotki SSP regarding all security matters.
He was briefed on measures regarding law and order in the Kutcha and other areas of Ghotki. The meeting was attended by the Sukkur DIG; the Mirpur Mathelo ASP; the Ghotki, Ubauro and Ronti DSPs; and other officers.
The police chief announced that the Ubauro and Ronti DSPs; 14 police officials who performed their duties on CPEC with excellence; seven personnel of the IT team; the Daharki, Ubauro and Khambra SHOs; and the Head Muharrirs of the Daharki and Khambra police stations would be given the CC-1 certificate of commendation and cash rewards.
He said that operations must be carried out against criminals equipped with modern weapons, adding that strict action must also be taken against their facilitators. Moreover, he added, the dacoits should lay down their weapons and come under the ambit of the law, and have mercy on their children, so they can be given concessions in accordance with the law.
Memon said the Counter Terrorism Department has been tasked with finding out who is involved in the supply of weapons to the Kutcha areas. He ordered improving intelligence-based operations in the Kutcha areas.
He said that modern weapons and vehicles would be provided to the police soon. The first priority in Sukkur Division and Larkana Division is to stabilise the law and order situation, he added. He also said they are providing facilities to the police, adding that protecting the lives and properties of the public is their first priority.
He pointed out that law-abiding citizens also live in the Kutcha areas. He claimed that the law and order situation in the Kutcha areas has improved compared to the past situation. He stressed that incidents like dacoities on highways should be prevented, and action must be taken against the facilitators of the Kutcha area dacoits.
