LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced organizing the Horse & Cattle Show 2025 as per international standards.
The National Horse & Cattle Show was first organized in 1964 and the last show was held in 1995. Now it is being organized after a gap of 30 years on the direction of the CM.
Organizing the show is another milestone of the Punjab government to promote the sterling traditions and culture of Punjab along with encouraging the farmers. The CM will inaugurate the show on February 9. Its theme is “Unity, Progress and Restoration of Culture”. The 3-day show will feature international teams. The show will be held at various locations in Lahore from February 9 to 23. The farmers will get an opportunity to display their domestic animals and get prizes.
The show will also feature spear-throwing, archery, buzkashi and polo competitions. Cultural festivals and flower exhibitions will also be held. Children’s games and other entertainment events will be held from February 13 to 23. Music festivals will be held from February 14 to 16 to promote traditional Punjabi food, beverages and music.
A Sufi festival will be held on February 19 to pay tribute to the Sufis and elders of Punjab and to disseminate their teachings. Punjab’s traditional Kabaddi competitions will be held on February 18 and 19. A car show for unique vehicle enthusiasts will be held on February 16. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has described “The Horse & Cattle Show as a gift for the people of Punjab belonging to every segment of the society, including farmers. Horse and livestock fairs will not only promote Punjab’s culture but agriculture as well. After 30 years, the Horse & Cattle Show has been reinvigorated and restored to its original state with the participation of international teams.” The chief minister has also constituted a steering committee headed by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb to hold the show. In her message on the World Cancer Day, Maryam said: “It is extremely difficult for the common man to bear the expensive treatment cost of cancer and the state will play its due role in this regard. I want the general public to be provided with free cancer treatment facilities in every district across Punjab.” On the occasion, Maryam announced that the Punjab government will provide free treatment to every patient in Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital.
