Cold weather to persist

LAHORE: PARTLY cloudy and cold weather was recorded in the City here on Tuesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours. Met officials said a west erly wave was affecting north western parts of the country and may persist in upper parts till tomorrow (Thursday). They predicted that mainly cold and dry weather was ex pected in most parts of the country. However, light rain wind/thunderstorm (light snowfall over the mountains) was expected at isolated places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Light to moder ate fog (in patches) was also expected in northeastern Pun jab during morning hours. Rainfall was recorded at some cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while snowfall was recorded at Kalam and Chitral. Tuesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped to -08°C, while in Lahore, it was 6.8°C and maximum was 21.4°C. Meanwhile, the average AQI of the city was 167, which came in the category of unhealthy while the PM2.5 concentration was 15.6 times the WHO annual PM2.5 guideline value
