Municipal employee shot dead on stairs of Tariq Road building

A municipal department employee was shot dead at the Kahkashan Building on Tariq Road on Sunday.

The victim was shot five times on the building's stairs by the assailant. The murder is suspected to be the result of personal enmity.

The victim was identified as 35-year-old Siraj Mangrio. He was critically injured in a firing incident in the Kahkashan Apartment near Liberty Signal within the jurisdiction of the Ferozabad police station. He was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he succumbed to his injuries.

Ferozabad SHO Inam Haider Junejo stated that Mangrio lived on the fourth floor of the building. He was coming down the stairs for some personal errand when an unidentified assailant opened fire on him as he reached the first floor.

The attacker fled the scene after the shooting. The SHO revealed that the unidentified suspect fired five bullets at the victim. He added that the murder appeared to be a case of personal enmity.

The deceased was employed in a municipal department. Police registered a case based on the complaint filed by the victim's uncle, Rasool Bux Mangrio. Further investigations are under way.
