Cops return Rs0.5m to citizen
In a heartening display of honesty, two traffic police officers in District South returned Rs515,000 and personal belongings to a citizen after they were accidentally dropped during his travel.
According to police reports, a patrol car team, consisting of Sub Inspector Rana Muhammad Latif and Constable Mir Zaman, was on duty in District South when they noticed a bag lying on the road at the Bukhari light signal in the Khayaban-e-Ittehad area. Upon inspection, the bag was found to be containing Rs515,000 in cash and two passports.
The officers quickly traced the bag’s owner, identified as Muhammad Yousuf, and returned the items to him. Yousuf explained that he had been heading to a travel agency to deposit money for an Umrah payment when his bag had fallen onto the road.
Grateful for the officers' honesty, Yousuf expressed his heartfelt thanks to Karachi traffic police. He emphasised how such acts of integrity help strengthen public relations between citizens and law enforcement. In recognition of their exceptional honesty, the cops were awarded the CC Second and a cash reward by DIG Traffic Karachi Ahmed Nawaz for their exemplary service to the community.
