Pakistan has over 800 pharmaceutical companies, which can help boost our exports. India over $22 billion worth of pharmaceutical products annually, while Pakistan can only manage around $700 million worth of exports. Pharmaceutical medicine products require WHO certifications, which can be quite expensive. The economic authorities should help fund the WHO registration of one product of each pharmaceutical company in Pakistan.
We can also sign agreements with other countries to accept Pakistani pharmaceutical exports without any WHO or local product registrations. This way, other countries can directly import products from Pakistan. With a little help from the government, the pharmaceutical industry of Pakistan can increase exports and production, create more jobs, and raise our forex reserves.
